On July 8-9, 2023, Wang Yingmin, deputy secretary general of the Alumni Association of Tsinghua High School, led the team to participate in the public interest tree planting activity, which was initiated and organized by Mr. Liao Lichun, senior 81 alumnus of Tsinghua High School Attached to promote desertification control in China as the primary work。Due to the hot weather and limited seating, only alumni representatives of Affiliated High School were invited to attend the event。

On the way to Zhangbei to plant trees, I had the honor to meet Beihang alumni at the 30th anniversary gathering of Class 89 graduation of Beihang University。This public welfare activity set up a bridge between the alumni association of Tsinghua High School and Beihang Alumni Association。In the process of understanding desertification, we first visited the Yuan Shangdu site and the Xilin Gol League Cultural Heritage Museum in Shangdu Town, Zhenglan Banner, Xilin Gol League, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, to fully understand the rise and fall of nomads, as well as the harm of grassland desertification。

A glimpse of the planting process

After arriving at Zhangbei green Base, Liao Licun, head of the "Deli Mofang" green volunteer group, explained in detail how to prune trees, and led everyone to become the "environmental sanitation ambassador" of the green base, everyone carried woven bags to clean up the white garbage brought by the sand, and everyone's woven bags were "full" when leaving the base.。In the afternoon, the team came to the 432nd volunteer forest, and the members planted love trees by hand。The process of planting trees is not easy: from site selection, digging, planting, soil cultivation, irrigation, every step is a challenge, a challenge to green hope and inheritance;It's a challenge to faith in wind and sand control。The planting of each sapling is done by everyone working together。

On the way back, the group members with the heart of public welfare warmly shared the sentiment of planting trees and sealing sand。This is the fourth time that the Alumni Association of Tsinghua High School has organized and participated in the green volunteer activity of "Deli Mofang"。The alumni were very happy to see that the saplings planted in the green base were growing well in the previous several times。"Greening the desert, purifying the mind" is not only a slogan, but also a real feeling。The purpose of the activity is not only for everyone to plant trees to control the sand, but also for more people to enhance their sense of patriotism and responsibility to protect the country through tree planting practices。While greening the natural desert, greening people's spiritual desert。

Mr. Liao Lichun, a Grade 81 alumnus of the High School affiliated to Tsinghua University, is an excellent "Beijing role model", the president of the Chinese Mozi Society for the dissemination of traditional Chinese culture, and has transformed from a successful entrepreneur to an environmental welfare activist。For more than 10 years, he continued to invest a lot of money, and led 432 batches of volunteers to participate in greening sand sealing activities, greening people's minds while greening sand dunes。

As a public welfare activity insisted by the Alumni Association of Tsinghua High School for many years, the tree planting activity will continue to be carried out, and the spirit of "self-improvement, moral commitment" of Tsinghua High School attached to pass on。
